Hester L. Van Dyne

Hester L. Van Dyne, 99, of Independence, Kansas went to be with her Lord, Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Gran Villas in Independence.
Hester L. Van Dyne was born January 26, 1919 in Independence, Kansas the daughter of Harry Van Dyne and Florence (Kennedy) Van Dyne. She grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1937.
She worked as an office secretary during her long life. She was employed at Scovel & Scovel Law Firm for 15 years and later at The Church of the Nazarene Headquarters in Kansas City for 27 years.
Hester lived in Kansas City and moved to Independence in 1989.
She enjoyed singing in the church choir and being with her family.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence and also had served as the church secretary.
Survivors include siblings, Frances Whitehorn of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Thelma Canaday of Independence, Kansas, Helen Norcross of Independence, Kansas, June Brannum of Independence, Kansas, Wayne Van Dyne of Independence, Kansas and John Van Dyne of Parsons, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Dorothy Ford, brothers, Donald Van Dyne and Glen Van Dyne.
Visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 9:00 A.M., Monday, March 26, 2018 until service time at First Church of the Nazarene, 3167 South 10th, Independence, Kansas 67301.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 26, 2018 at First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Darren Melton, officiating.
Interment will follow services at Van Dyne Park in Harmony Cemetery, rural Montgomery County.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the First Church of the Nazarene and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
